  • Community Hall

Many thanks to all who supported us to complete the Roof Project this year. As you know we had to close the hall due to the leaking roof and it was badly missed by all who use it in the community. We are delighted with the response we received from you all with the fundraising and also the clean up after the works were completed. When the roof was replaced on the outside the ceiling needed to be repaired and painted and it was decided to paint all the inside walls while the hoist was in there. Outside by the side of the building the footpath was widened to enable access for machinery and scaffolding to be erected. The electricity supply was also put in underground. New gutters and downpipes were also installed. These works incurred additional costs bringing the total cost of the project to €94,000. We got a grant from the Town & Village Renewal Scheme for €52,119 which we were very appreciative of and the rest we raised through fundraising and donations. The project is now fully paid for!! We have included a photo of the top of the roof below as it is now.

The Community Hall was built in 1976 and to date the Ladies and Gents toilets and cloakroom areas have not been updated and need to be done as soon as possible. This is our next project. With that in mind we will continue with the clothes collections, kiddies Halloween disco and the Christmas Fair.

It would be great if you would continue to support the committee with this venture. We are continually trying to improve the hall for those who are using it now and for future generations.

Can you help?

This year our Christmas Fair will be on Sunday 2nd December in the hall. As well as the usual stalls for the fair and Santa being present we will be having a Cake Sale and a Wheel of Fortune and all proceeds of both will be going towards the refurbishment of the toilets in the hall. We require donations of any unwanted presents or gifts towards the prizes for the Wheel of Fortune. We also need people to bake cakes etc for our cake sale. Any help on the day would also be appreciated.

If you know anyone who would be interested in taking a stall for the fair and selling their wares please contact any of the committee.
